Son of Nerylla & Colvin, I followed in my father’s footsteps, completing an Engineering degree. While he was the first in his family to finish their education, I was the first to have a degree that was never used; due to ‘reasons.’
However, it was useful in that it helped me to learn to think, something that I am most grateful for.
Further letters after my name followed. An alphabet of them.
Whilst a requirement by employers, none of these were ever used once completed, as employers had their own ‘reasons,’ moving me to new unrelated roles, or offering redundancies.
I found it all quite amusing, and it made great material for my novels!
My mother was the first in the family to publish. As a successful antique dealer she loved sharing her knowledge with other collectors.
I have always had a career where I helped others.
First, as caretaker of ‘Nerylla’s Antiques’ whilst my parents bought stock.
Then, as a teacher at a technical college, barely older than the students.
And later, in the wine industry, first in accounts, then global marketing, where part of the pay was in wine. Nice.
Note: Good wine is wine YOU like.
Both ‘God, Incorporated’ and ‘Emergent’ were written during a redundancy, whilst looking for another assistant role.
I currently live in Sydney, Australia, got married in Germany, and almost travel often enough. While travel beckons, so did publishing.
And sometimes you need to have an adventure!
I wish to thank the writers and story tellers who have come before me
- who have walked the path upon which I have now walked -
their footsteps taught me that there are both truth and secrets within the words we write.
